Artist Statement
As a sculptor I try and create work that mimics real objects. I am interested in objects that capture a nostalgic quality and in constructing work that pretends to embody the authority of an artifact. I try and give my objects a feeling of having existed through time. I am particularly interested in toys and objects that can easily enter the arena of play.
I also focus on constructing a dichotomy in my work that allows the viewer the ability to play with meaning and gives the viewer a proactive role. The use of recognizable objects composed as if through play become the arena in which I introduce ideas for the viewer to consider.
